Diego Maradona has hailed Cristiano Ronaldo’s exploits in the Champions League following his incredible hat-trick against Atletico Madrid.
The 1986 World Cup winner also joined in the debate of who is the best player between the Portuguese and Lionel Messi in this generation.
Ronaldo scored a sensational hat-trick in the Champions League that inspired Juve to qualify into quarter finals in emphatic fashion.
Diego Simeone’s side had taken a two-goal advantage from the first leg at the Wanda Metropolitano but Ronaldo single-handedly turned the match on it head with a hat-trick.
And it became the fifth time the ex-Real Madrid played a major role in Atletico’s Champions League fate.
Ronaldo’s recent performance has again generated heated debate of who is the better player between himself and Messi having won five Ballon d’Ors each.
In a recent interview with Spain news media outlet Marca, the 58-year-old Argentine legend said: “There are players who are touched by the magic wand.
“The truth is that Argentines are proud that Messi is Argentinian and did not go with the Spanish.
“The other is an animal. Ronaldo is pure power and is now also a sorcerer: he said that he’d score three goals and he scored three goals.”
On the other hand, Messi was key to Barcelona’s 5-1 win over Lyon scoring the opening goal and getting his brace in the 78th minute to lead his team into the quarter finals.
Meanwhile, Continentour.com.ng had earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo’s spectacular hat-trick against Atletico Madrid brought tears of joy on the face of his partner, Georgina Rodriguez.
