A clash between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) has left eight persons injured in Akwa Ibom state.
The clash occurred at Ward 9, Unit 007, Nsit Atai local council area of the state, Daily Trust reports.
Continentour.com.ng gathers that the injured persons were APC supporters who were attacked with machetes during the fracas.
They have been taken to the Itu Mbang General Hospital. Speaking with newsmen at his residence, an APC chieftain in the area, Dr Edem, claimed that APC supporters had been stopped from going to the polling units and casting their votes by PDP-armed thugs, in connivance with security personnel.
He said one of the victims who was hospitalized may not survive the attack, and accused the House member of Nsit Atai, Mark Essiet, of instigating the violence in the area.
Meanwhile, Continentour.com.ng previously reported that armed touts were allegedly forcing some voters in Ogbomosho South local government area of Oyo state to vote for APC candidates.
The election malpractice allegedly took place in Ward 4, Polling Unit 5, Polling Unit 6 and Polling Unit 7, Ogbomosho South, where voters were forced by the touts, to show their ballot papers after voting.
