Spanish League giants Real Madrid have reportedly shortlisted former manager Jose Mourinho to take over from current boss Santiago Solari.
Los Blancos continued to struggle this campaign having crashed out of two competitions within seven days after losing to Barcelona and Ajax.
The Galacticos were beaten 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu in the second leg of the European championship on Tuesday.
Solari’s men crashed out of the championship they won three times on a row 5-2 on aggregate and are currently third on La Liga table.
Late last month, Madrid crashed out of the Copa Del Rey tournament after losing to Barcelona in the semifinal of the cup competition. Mauricio Pochettino and Massimiliano Allegri are other managers considered for the top job at the club.
Meanwhile, the Portuguese tactician has not ruled out a return to the Bernabeu after being asked about his future at the weekend.
Manchester United are also on the chase to sign Pochettino on a permanent basis at the end of the ongoing season.
On his side’s recent form, Solari said: “It’s a mixture of things. It is part of our work, to improve what we have to improve.
“Sometimes the ball hits the stick and enters and sometimes comes out. It is true that we had many chances in the game, less in the last. We have to specify them, that’s football.
“These players have experience and character. They have to have a clear conscience for having given everything and doing a good job, which was not enough to win.”
Continentour.com.ng earlier reported that Real Madrid were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League at the round of 16 after suffering a 4-1 bashing from Ajax Amsterdam on Tuesday, March 5, at the Santiago Bernabéu.
A goal each from Hakim Ziyech, David Neres, Dusan Tadic and Lasse Schoene were all the Dutch side needed to seal their progress to the next phase of the tourney.
Meanwhile, Marco Asensio’s lone strike ended up as consolation as they crashed out 5-2 on aggregate after both legs.
