Real Madrid suffered a humiliating 1-4 defeat from Ajax on Tuesday, March 5, in the reverse fixture of Champions League last 16 round.
The Galaticos went into the encounter with a 2-1 advantage from their first leg clash three weeks ago.
Hakim Ziyech netted the opener for Ajax just seven minutes after the commencement of hostilities at the Santiago Bernabeu.
And in the 18th minute of the interesting encounter David Neres increased Ajax lead when he scored the away side’s second goal to further send Real Madrid close to the exit door.
The result saw the away side go into the break with a 2-0 lead on the night. In the 62nd minute Dusan Tadic compounded Real Madrid woes when he scored Ajax third goal.
Eight minutes later Marco Asensio pulled one goal back for the Galaticos to keep the scores at Real Madrid 1-3 Ajax.
But in the 72nd minute Lasse Schoene became the fourth different goal scorer for Ajax when he restored the Dutch side’s three-goal lead.
And at the blast of the final whistle the scoreboard read Real Madrid 1 – 4 Ajax as the Dutch giants earned a 5-3 aggregate win to send the UCL defending champions Los Blancos crashing out.
Earlier, Continentour.com.ng reported that Real Madrid secured slim victory over Dutch League side Ajax Amsterdam in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 encounter at Johan Cruijff Arena.
The hosts were the better side in most part of the game but the result at the end of the day proved otherwise.
Los Blancos broke the deadlock in the 60th minute through Frenchman Karim Benzema after connecting with Vinicius Junior who overcame two players before threading the pass that to the goal.
