BREAKING: PEACE COMMITTEE HOLDS MEETING WITH BUHARI IN ASO ROCK HOURS AFTER ONE WITH ATIKU

Less than 24 hours after meeting with Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the presidential election, the national peace accord committee is currently holding a similar one with Muhammadu Buhari.

The closed-door meeting with Buhari is reportedly holding at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Nation reports that the meeting started around 3pm at the president’s office.

In attendance at the meeting include a former head of state, Abdulsalami Abubakar, the bishop of Sokoto archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church, Hassan Matthew Kukah, and Cardinal John Onaiyekan.

It was learnt that national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, was also at the meeting.

Continentour.com.ng earlier reported that some members of the National Peace Committee (NPC) headed by Abdulsalami Abubakar, held a meeting with Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Peter Obi in Abuja, on Thursday, February 28.

The meeting which is taking place at the secretariat of the National Peace Committee (NPC) has in attendance Adulsalami Abubakar, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, Cardinal John Onaiyekan, Rev Fr Atta Barkindo and other members of the committee.

Some senior members of Atiku’s campaign team reported to be at the meeting include Senate president Bukola Saraki, PDP chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, speaker, Yakubu Dogara and other PDP leaders.

At the meeting, Atiku reportedly made a five-point demand. He reportedly listed the issues with the elections as follows:

1. Unconstitutional deployment of the military which was in breach of a Supreme Court judgement.

2. Malpractice between INEC officials, the ruling party and the military to undermine the votes/voters of the PDP.

3. Collaboration between the federal government and INEC to undermine the sanctity of the votes of the people.

4. The malpractices show that there was no improvement from 2015.

Abdulsalami and his team reportedly pleaded with Atiku to avoid anything that would jeopardize the peace of the nation.
