The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has said the presidential candidate of the PDP in the February 23 election, Atiku Abubakar, was never destined to be president of Nigeria.
The APC chairman made the statement on Thursday, February 28, at the party’s secretariat in Abuja when criticising Atiku for describing the presidential election as the worst in Nigeria’s history, the Cable reports.
“Was he going to rule Nigeria against our wish? Citizens must hold their leaders accountable to their policy choices. Even when he said even if he if he will die he will sell NNPC many believed that he has collected deposit,” Oshiomhole said.
“It borders on arrogance that our future is tied on his presidency. Atiku is destined never to be president of Nigeria.
“Leadership is about character. Atiku’s desperation is so obvious, so desperate that in 2003, he challenged his own boss president Olusegun Obasanjo not to do a second term.”
Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has rejected the result of the election won by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Continentour.com.ng reported Atiku, who had kept mute since Monday, February 25, when the results showed that he was going to be the loser, described the election as a sham.
The former vice president said if he had lost in a free and fair election, he would have called the victor within seconds of being aware of his victory to offer not just his congratulation.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Atiku said the militarisation of the electoral process is a disservice to Nigeria’s democracy and a throwback to the jackboot era of military dictatorship.
