Manchester United caretaker manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has revealed his side could be without up to ten first team players ahead of the Crystal Palace trip.
The Red Devils will battle Crystal Palace in a defining Premier League clash on Wednesday night, February 27. Solskjaer, who is yet to lose a domestic match now faces a major squad selection headache ahead of the Selhurst Park trip.
“I don’t know the list that’s supposed to be injured, Matteo [Darmian] trained the other day, I don’t think he’ll be ready, Rojo has been training so hopefully will be involved,” the UK Metro quoted Solskajer.
The trio of Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera had to be substituted in the first half of United’s barren draw against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday and are major doubts for the Crystal Palace encounter.
Nemanja Matic is out for a month after missing the Liverpool tie, Phil Jones is unwell and the duo of Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian remain unavailable.
Marcus Rashford will face a late fitness test as he strained to complete 90 minutes against the Reds with an apparent muscle injury.
“Rashy we’re still waiting to see how his ankle is responding to the treatment, muscle injuries are too early to think about. That’s it. There’s quite a few out,” the United boss divulged.
Solskjaer further admitted there has not been any positive news on most of his wards’ fitness and could now be forced to promote youth players.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils will be seeking to get maximum points against the Eagles in a push to finish in the top four.
They currently sit fifth on the log with 52 points, two ahead of sixth-placed Chelsea who still have a game to play.
Continentour.com.ng earlier reported Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic could be out for at least four weeks after picking up an injury during his side’s training on Saturday.
The Serbian has been excluded from the Red Devils squad to battle Liverpool in their crunch clash at Old Trafford on Sunday, February 24. Before his injury, the 30-year-old has made 23 appearances for his side scoring one goal in the process.
