Pep Guardiola reveals Roman Abrahamovich’s impatience with managers is the real reason he rejected the offer to manage Chelsea earlier in his career, saying coaches require more time than they are afforded by the Blues Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed that he rejected offer to manage Chelsea because of the rate at which they sack their managers.
The Spaniard led the Citizens to a remarkable Premier League triumph at the end of the 2017-18 season with a 100 points record.
Guardiola, according to Daily Mail however questions the impatience of Roman Abramovich, the owner of the Blues with his club’s managers.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich also said that he is shock at how much Maurizio Sarri has been criticised ahead of Sunday’s EFL Cup final at Wembley Stadium.
He was earlier in his career but suggested managers require more time than they are afforded by the Blues.
“In my first year never the club doubted me,” Guardiola said. “It was never in the media that I’d be sacked if we lose this game.
“I was surprised that when (Antonio) Conte won the title and they lost one or two games at the beginning of the season, people start to say he was going to be sacked.
I said: “Wow, but two or three months ago they won the Premier League”. “I was never a potential option for Chelsea. I decided to go to Bayern Munich and came here with Ferran (Soriano) and Txiri (Begiristain), they trust me and I trust them.
“In the first season when it was difficult I said we needed time and they supported me. The players knew who was the manager and who would be the manager.
“It was stable, that’s the best way to do something for a long time, not just a short period.”
Continentour.com.ng earlier reported that Roman Abramovich was cooling off listening to Moscow’s finest in ballet and opera despite the crisis rocking Chelsea in recent weeks.
The Russian billionaire has been less concerned with Maurizio Sarri’s poor strings results with the Blues recently humiliated by Man City and United.
The heavy criticisms aimed towards Sarri by Stamford Bridge fans during the 2-0 loss to Red Devils was like nothing ever happened in the Abramovich era.
