The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of allegedly colluding with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rig election.
Speaking on Monday, February 18, at a crucial caucus meeting organised by the ruling party following the postponement of the February 16 election, the APC chairman alleged that the commission had brought to the knowledge of PDP the poll shift before any other party.
Continentour.com.ng gathers that Oshiomhole also vowed that the party will write the electoral umpire on the new election schedule and the need to have free, fair and credible election for the country.
He said: “I can put my hands on the Qur’an and swear that INEC and its officials informed the Peoples Democratic Party before postponing the election. The PDP were well acquainted with the plans to move to the elections.
“This is why they did not receive the news with shock. They made us look like fools, because we were busy preparing for the elections while they were relaxing.”
The former Edo governor, who also threatened to compel the commission to reshuffle its top officers ahead of the February 23 election, was also reported to have expressed disappointment over the mixed reactions generated by the poll shift.
He said: “We want INEC to assure us that the elections would be free, fair and credible. They need to speak to us about the reconfiguration of card readers.”
Also speaking at the meeting was President Buhari, who vowed that those who tried to hijack the ballot boxes would be made to face their worst nightmares.
The president reportedly said: “I will warn those who has planned to disrupt the peaceful elections to desist from their planned actions. Anyone who tries that is doing it at the expense of his own life.”
The meeting was also attended by APC leaders including Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and governors.
Meanwhile, Continentour.com.ng had earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were said to have convened a crucial meeting at the ruling party’s secretariat in Abuja on Monday, February 18.
The all-important gathering attended by caucus members of the APC was the first meeting of the party after the postponement of the presidential and National Assembly election by the INEC.
