Kingsley Moghalu, the presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) has asked Nigerians to be calm about the news of the postponement of general elections.
The YPP presidential candidate on Saturday, February 16, while speaking with newsmen said the postponement shows the repeated failures under the ruling party of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Premium Times reports.
Moghalu, however, said pointed out that elections were also postponed in 2015, and appealed to Nigerians to remain calm and unshaken in the face of it all to vote their choice.
He also expressed deep disappointment over the situation, saying it is a burdensome event with serious implication as so many activities would be disrupted by the development.
He said: “School children will now face further disruptions to the school calendar. Economic activities will suffer further setbacks.
“And Nigerians who have travelled to various parts of the country to vote or monitor the elections that would have held today now face logistical nightmares.”
Moghalu also showed gratitude to all his volunteer, charging them to see the election as a tool for liberation from incompetent administrations.
In his words: “I would like to thank the teeming volunteers of my campaign and supporters of our party, the YPP, for their service to our country.
Let us ensure this election is a watershed for the liberation of our country from the vice-like grip of incompetence and lack of vision.
“I remain committed to providing our country the needed visionary and competent leadership.”
Meanwhile, Continentour.com.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari reacted to the postponement of the 2019 elections by the INEC.
In an official statement, the president expressed disappointment over the decision of the electoral umpire to postpone the elections.
