TEARS AS FORMER CDS AIR CHIEF MARSHAL ALEX BADEH IS LAID TO REST

The National Military Cemetery in Abuja is filled with emotions today, January 23, as the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, is laid to rest.

The funeral of the former defence chief was attended by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Naval Staff, and the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar.

Also, present at the funeral were friends and family members of the late defence chief, including his colleagues and military personnel.

The late Chief of Defence Staff was shot and killed by some unknown gunmen on Tuesday, December 18, along Abuja-Keffi road.

He was said to have been returning from his farm with his driver and friend along the expressway when he was killed.

Badeh died on the spot as a result of injuries sustained during the attack.

His death was announced by Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, the director of public relations and information of the Nigerian Air Force.

Daramola had in a post on his official Twitter handle said: “It is with a heavy heart that I regretfully announce the unfortunate demise of former Chief of Defence staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, who died today, 18 Dec 18, from gunshot wounds sustained when his vehicle was attacked while returning from his farm along Abuja-Keffi Road.”

He was killed by some unknown gunmen along Abuja-Keffi Road on Tuesday, December 18, 2018.

Meanwhile, Continentour.com.ng had reported that the Defence Headquarters on Friday, January 18, disclosed to members of the public the date for the burial of the former Chief of Defence Staff.

The burial announcement was contained in a statement released by the acting director of defence information, Brigadier General John Agim.

Agim in the statement said, the activities lined-up for the interment of the former defence chief will begin on Sunday with the service of songs scheduled to hold at the Nigerian Air Force Base Protestant Church in Abuja.

Brigadier General Agim also disclosed that the burial activity would be followed by a church service expected to hold at the same venue on Wednesday,January 23.
