A Lagos lawmaker, Hon Segun Olulade, has described the governorship candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jimi Agbaje, as a politician who knows he cannot win the election in the state in 2019.
Agbaje is seen as the major contender against the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in the governorship election scheduled to hold I am March 2019.
Olulade told Continentour.com.ng that he was very certain the election would be a walk-over for President Muhammadu Buhari and Sanwo-Olu adding that the APC is not having a sleepless night over the candidates of the PDP.
The lawmaker noted that one strength the APC has over the PDP is that some top members of the opposition party had detected to the ruling organisation.
“Why would we be scared for a Jimi Agbaje who is our customer? Remember he is a person who never done anything fantastic.
“He comes every election and Lagosians have rejected him on those occasions. If he is coming again, how can he be a threat to us as a party?” He asked.
While describing Agbaje as a person who may not know how government is run, Olulade noted that Sanwo-Olu has been in the system for many years and as such remains the same most qualified to lead the state from 2019.
Olulade said that the APC would perform well in the forthcoming general elections.
Concerning the re-election bid of Sanai Agunbiade, the majority leader of the Lagos Assembly, Olulade said: “Ikorodu is blessed with the kind of representative it has in the state House of Assembly.
“With the majority leader of the House representing them, they would have good development.”
Continentour.com.ng earlier reported that a Lagos monarch, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, declared his resolution to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the general elections even though he argued that all candidates of other parties in the state remain his children.
Oba Shotobi made the declaration in his palace on Saturday, January 19, when he hosted Sanai Agunbiade, a member of the Lagos state House of Assembly, and his supporters.
The respected monarch also noted the readiness of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a successful election in 2019 as the electoral umpire told some royal fathers recently.
